Sold by Sotheby’s in December 2024 for $1,200,000.00 USD, this pair featured two oval-shaped Alexandrites weighing 7.69 and 7.38 carats. Originating from Brazil and accompanied by AGL and Gübelin reports confirming no treatment, these gems showcased exceptional color change and saturation. With a combined weight of 15.07 carats, with a price of Approximately $80,000 price per carat , this sale highlights the high demand for untreated Brazilian Alexandrites of significant size and quality.
At a Phillips auction in October 2024, this Brazilian Alexandrite sold for HKD 7,620,000 (Hong Kong Dollars) which is approximately $973,077 USD. Known for its strong color change and no indications of treatment, this 10.84-carat gem achieved a price of about $90,000 per carat.
In December 2022, Christie’s featured this masterpiece, selling it for $730,800 USD against an estimate of $300,000 to $500,000. with a price of Approximately $70,000 per carat.
In the same December 2022 auction, an exquisite clip-brooch designed as a parrot with a 9.92-carat Alexandrite fetched $630,000 USD. The price per carat- $63,505!
At a Christie’s auction in November 2022, this Brazilian Alexandrite achieved a price of HKD 1,701,000 Hong Kong Dollars (approximately $218,000 USD with a price of Approximately $33,000 per carat. The slight discrepancy was likely due to the under 7 Ct size, and overall quality of stone.
